Stall and flow control
Thickness, nose radius and camber choose the stall pattern. A thicker, blunter nose tends to stall from the trailing edge. A sharper nose tends to stall from the leading edge.

A post-stall polar continues past CLmax: lift after the break, the drag rise, and the moment change. Simulators, spins and some UAVs need that branch. A cruise solver usually does not provide it.

A slat is a small airfoil ahead of the main nose. The slot feeds high-energy air onto the main element and the slat’s own shape softens the peak. Stall angle and CLmax both rise.

A trailing-edge flap adds camber. Lift rises at a given angle, the zero-lift angle goes more negative, the moment goes nose-down, and drag rises. Fowler flaps also change the chord.

A vortex generator is a small vane that sheds a streamwise vortex and mixes high-speed air down to the wall. It can delay separation. It always adds some cruise drag.

When angle of attack changes quickly, lift can overshoot the static maximum and the return path is a different curve. Reduced frequency says whether the motion is fast enough to matter.
